Following the success of the PDA Christmas video, I created a companion animated piece that brought the holiday message to life through character animation and dynamic motion design. The animation added a playful, engaging dimension to PDA's seasonal campaign — perfect for social media loops and digital greetings that kept audiences watching.
PDA — Christmas animation campaign
After Effects / Illustrator / Lottie
Create a charming, loop-friendly animation that extends the Christmas campaign across digital channels with maximum shareability.
Achieving fluid, natural-looking animation requires meticulous keyframing and easing curves. Every element — from falling snowflakes to character movements — needed to feel organic rather than mechanical, which demanded extensive iteration on timing.
Rich animation can balloon file sizes quickly. The challenge was keeping the animation visually dense while optimizing for fast loading on mobile and web — using techniques like shape layers over raster assets and efficient export settings.
The animation was designed to loop infinitely without a visible seam. Getting the end state to perfectly match the opening frame while maintaining visual interest throughout required careful planning of the animation arc from the start.
The animation performed exceptionally well on social media, with its looping design keeping viewers engaged longer than typical holiday content. The playful style earned shares and comments that extended PDA's organic reach.
Paired with the companion video, the animation created a cohesive multi-format holiday campaign. The consistent visual language across video and animation reinforced PDA's brand identity across every touchpoint.
The animation was delivered in multiple formats — GIF, MP4, and Lottie JSON — giving the team flexibility to embed it in emails, websites, presentations, and social posts without any additional production work.
